At room temperature, HDTMPA is a white crystal powder , slightly soluble in water with solubility less than 5%. HDTMPA can inhibit most scale formation such as calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, barium sulfate and ferric oxide, etc. As water treatment chemicals, HDTMPA is mainly used as scale inhibitors for calcium sulfate and barium sulfate. Among all the organophosphorus acid, it has the best scale inhibition for calcium sulfate, with both high scale inhibition rate and long effective time, so HDTMPA is particularly suitable for crush treatment in oilfield. It can also be used as water treatment in boiler.
